SVG (Static VAr Generator) Systems
In modern energy systems, the rapid and irregular changes in load characteristics, phase imbalances, and dynamic reactive power demands cause classical compensation methods to fall short in many applications. In particular, cranes, welding machines, rolling mills, frequently starting and stopping motors, and similar dynamic loads lead to sudden reactive power fluctuations and voltage variations in the system. In such applications, it is critically important that reactive power can be controlled not only in steps, but instantly, continuously, and with high precision.
SVG (Static VAr Generator) systems are advanced technology compensation solutions that can continuously adjust reactive power within milliseconds thanks to their power electronics-based structure. Operating in parallel with the grid, these systems instantly meet inductive or capacitive reactive power demand on demand.
The operating principle of SVG systems is based on continuously measuring the reactive power demand in the system and injecting a current of the opposite phase and desired magnitude in response. This ensures a fully dynamic and seamless compensation — unlike classical capacitor and reactor-based systems, which operate in steps.
